When God gives you a Promise…. You fight for it! When I read about Joshua leading the Israelites over the Jordan into the Promised Land, there is encounter after encounter when they had to fight to possess their promise. God had promised them the land, He told Joshua that every place the sole of his foot tread upon, was his. But yet, they still had to fight for it and fight for it they did. So many of us want our promises delivered to us on a silver platter, but we must remember the devil does not want us to walk in the promises of God. In fact, he will try to get you to give up on those promises. That is why we must fight for the promises God has given us.
Have you ever been given a promise that you gave up on because it never seemed to come to pass? That can seem very discouraging, but that is why God told Joshua to be strong and of good courage, not wimpy and discouraged. If God tells you, you will have victory, you stand on that promise! If God tells you everything you touch will be abundant and yet everything you touch seems to fall apart, you stand and fight for the promise! If God tells you a loved one will be healed, you fight and don’t let the “father of lies” have his way! Who’s report shall you believe? God’s Word or the doctor’s word?
If Joshua had looked at the giants in the land, if he had looked and based his decisions on the circumstances around him, he and all who followed him would have never made it to their promise. I suppose people don’t stand and fight because of many reasons…
Maybe they are afraid of conflict, or are too lazy, maybe they don’t want to look weird… Fighting can be a bloody mess and many of us don’t like the thought of that. If you think Christianity is just a feel good, warm and fluffy thing, take a look at Calvary… It was a bloody mess! If Jesus endured that for us, at least we can do is stand and let our faith stand in the power of God and not the wisdom of man. (1 Cor. 2:5 ) Because you know what? The wisdom of man can leave you pretty jacked up.
So when the onslaught of hell comes against you to take you out, fight back! Stand on the promise of God! When the enemy creeps in to tell you how unworthy you are, fight back! And stand upon the promise that you are blood bought! No matter what the situation looks like, seek the Lord and see what He things on the matter.
Seeking the Lord’s heart will save you from fighting battles you were never supposed to fight and it will keep you fighting for the honor of your Lord and Savior. For He is worthy!
Don’t ever, ever give up! Go out and Possess The Land the Lord has given you for His honor, for His glory!
“Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
God bless you as you continue to move forward in Him.

Hello Paul, I must say that this article is awesome. I teach a class at the detention center and I have been teaching to be Released out of Bondage. Last week lesson was on Exodus 13 and how God delievered the Israelites out of bondage. This week I am teaching out of Numbers and how to enter the Promise Land. I am going to share you article with the girls that. I know I have been bless by it and I know they will be also. Thanks so much, Karen
Thank you so much Karen! I will be praying for you and the girls you are teaching.
Keep me posted on how things go!
God bless you as you continue advancing the Kingdom!
Paul, Wow thanks for the prayers. Today was awesome! As I was teaching the girls that there promise land is the destiny that God has for them if they will just surrender ( Jermiah 29:11). If all the Israelites would have beleived God instead of seeing the giants, would they have been better off? They also loved your article and was total bless from it. As I was leaving the detention center, a girl came up to me and ask me if I would be back next week? She had tears in her eyes, my heart was going out to her. The guard standing at the door said if you are leaving you need to leave now, or stay a while. So I just got finishing tell the girls, rather you turn to the left or turn the right you will hear a voice behind you saying this is the way, lol. So I said to the guard I am staying! So the sound of the lock door was in place. The girl ( Nicole) came to know Christ as her savior. About 15 minutes later after I tooK up prayer request and one came to know the Lord and seeds was sown. The guard came back, due to other reason out of her control, I look at her and said we are ready to leave now, lol. So the girls saw the GOD IS THE ONE IN CONTROL, NOT MAN, NOT THE GIANT, BUT GOD. Thanks so much Paul! One day I will see you in heaven and give you a high five, Karen
That is awesome Karen! Praise God!
It’s always worth it when someone comes to know Christ huh? Thank you for allowing the Lord to move through you..
God bless you and I’ll be expecting that high five!
